CARTHA founder Usha R. Balakrishnan made the requisite financial commitments from her personal savings to jumpstart the formative phases (e.g., to gather the initial team of volunteers to incorporate the organization, gain 501c3 tax-exempt status, develop and maintain the website content, launch the CARTHA Fellows program, design some early pilot-level programming based on the C2G2SM training model, and support travel expenses for reaching out to prospective program partners and donors.)
Continuing to serve as CARTHA's President, CEO, and Board Chair on a volunteer basis, Usha has embraced CARTHA as the recipient of a portion of whatever she earns from her ongoing professional endeavors.
Ongoing Financing of CARTHA Operations
Our collection of volunteers, well-wishers, and program partners have continued to provide various forms of in-kind support as well as financial contributions.
Throughout her development phases, CARTHA will continue to appreciate core infrastructure support for operations as well as programming activities that would enable the following:
* Program-specific support funds to advance our multi-year initiatives
* Outreach activities and program evaluation expenses
* Communications materials and social media
* Travel stipend and other financial support for CARTHA Fellows and Student Interns
* Compensation for staff and professional consultants
